About
Chrissy Callahan is the writer behind Status Quo Questions. She holds a B.S. in Organizational Leadership with minors in Missions and Pastoral Leadership and a M.A. in Ministerial Leadership.
Status Quo Questions was started in 2018 as an avenue to address topics and issues that were often left untouched and unchanged within modern American Christianity, despite not reflecting actual biblical principles. Originally, a lot of the motivation came from a place of hurt, anger, and frustration, believing that the type of hurt that had been seen in Christian community was not God’s heart for people:
“‘Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the Lord: “As I live,” says the Lord God, “surely because My flock became a prey, and My flock became food for every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, nor did My shepherds search for My flock, but the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock… Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day…”
“…I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down,” says the Lord God. “I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick…”'” –Ezekiel 34:7-8, 11-12, 15-16a (NKJV)
This blog doesn’t have all the answers and there’s still so much to learn, but the hope is that the content here can be a place where we learn more about God and His character, examine ourselves, talk about what it looks like to follow Jesus in truth, and see the good fruit that Scripture talks about in our lives, churches, and communities.
Wherever you are in your journey, you’re invited to join the conversation.

There’s still a lot to learn, but it’s neat to see how Status Quo Questions has grown out of a personal blog.

Optimism is not living in a fantasy world where nothing tragic ever happens; vital optimism is a confidence that tragedy is not the last word, that the best is yet to be. Optimism is being able to acknowledge brutal realities and to point to an even greater reality – that our experiences are not in vain, our responses are not futile, and our efforts are going to be worthwhile.
